Team Mission:
We are a group of seniors studying Communication Studies at Wayne State University in the heart of Detroit, MI. We are currently enrolled in COM 5900, our senior capstone course, in which we gain real-life experience in research and personal branding. This semester, our class is gathering information regarding the effectiveness of Stop the Bleed, a traumatic bleeding management course. The Stop the Bleed course offers life-saving information regarding tourniquet usage and other forms of traumatic bleeding management. You may be wondering-- what does a traumatic bleeding course have to do with the field of communication? As communication specialists, we not only can work in fields such as advertising, marketing, event planning, etc., but we can also work in the healthcare field as well! Through a pre-test and post-test survey model, our team gained insight into the effectiveness of the Stop The Bleed supplemental training course. Therefore, as you navigate through the training, keep in mind our research is through a lense of social science rather than the typical lense of natural science.

The Stop the Bleed course is awareness about massive bleeding situations and training in what to do in that situation. It is a training that is unfortunately necessary for our society now. I enjoyed being a part of this research team and I recommend taking the course, you could help save a life. When I am not researching I prepare taxes and offer bookkeeping services to my clients.

Stop The Bleed (STB) course is important because it helps educate individuals on what to do in high stress situations. STB helps increase safety, save lives, make individuals more secure, and prevent situations from becoming worse. It is vital that as many individuals as attainable survive injuries if they are exposed to trauma and this course helps bring knowledge to that. That’s why STB is important. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor sports such as bike riding and rollerblading. I also enjoy leisurely activities such as going to the movies and shopping. A fun fact, is that I can touch my tongue to my nose.
